Wheeler is fortunate to have two city parks: Upper City Park and Waterfront Park. Wheeler is also conveniently located just a few miles from one of Oregon’s best state parks, Nehalem Bay State Park.
Waterfront Park is nestled in downtown Wheeler directly on the water. This park, established by the local Wheeler Park Committee, is a wonderful addition to our City Center. Whether staying overnight or just passing through, you will want to take a moment to enjoy the gardens. Picnic tables, benches, barbecue grills are provided. Pick up your picnic needs at the local grocer, or order “to go” from our restaurants and enjoy a picnic in our beautiful waterfront park. Then meander down the city ramp to the city dock and enjoy the wildlife on the Nehalem River.
Upper City Park sits on the hill overlooking the City of Wheeler and the Nehalem River. This park is very family oriented featuring playground equipment, picnic tables, baseball diamond, horseshoe pits and a newly formed BMX track. Upper Ciy Park park is a perfect place to host a family reunion picnic or simply to enjoy a quiet space while your children play nearby. Drinking fountain.
Directions: Follow Highway 101 through Wheeler, turn left at Hospital Road (directly south of City Hall), follow signs to the park.
